Day Nursery Manager
Job description
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Childcare Manager to lead our childcare provision and ensure the highest standards of care, learning, and safeguarding.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operation of the childcare setting.
- Ensure a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for all children.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant childcare regulations, safeguarding requirements, and health and safety standards.
- Develop, implement, and review policies and procedures.
- Recruit, supervise, train, and support childcare staff.
- Conduct staff appraisals, performance reviews, and professional development activities.
- Monitor children's progress and ensure appropriate record-keeping.
- Manage staff rotas, attendance, and workforce planning.
- Build positive relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies.
- Manage budgets, resources, and purchasing requirements.
- Oversee the planning and delivery of high-quality educational and developmental activities.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation.
- Address parent enquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally.
- Lead safeguarding practices and act as the designated safeguarding lead where required.
- Prepare for inspections and ensure the setting meets quality standards.
- Promote inclusion, equality, and diversity throughout the service.
- Support marketing and occupancy initiatives to maintain enrolment levels.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's Services.
- At least 3 years management experience.
- Experience of safeguarding children and promoting child welfare.
- Applicant must have a driving licence.
- Experience leading and developing staff teams.
- Knowledge of regulatory and inspection requirements.
- Strong understanding of child development and early years practice.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Effective communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational, administrative, and budgeting abilities.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and ensure regulatory compliance.
