Day Nursery Manager


Job description

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Childcare Manager to lead our childcare provision and ensure the highest standards of care, learning, and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operation of the childcare setting.
  • Ensure a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for all children.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant childcare regulations, safeguarding requirements, and health and safety standards.
  • Develop, implement, and review policies and procedures.
  • Recruit, supervise, train, and support childcare staff.
  • Conduct staff appraisals, performance reviews, and professional development activities.
  • Monitor children's progress and ensure appropriate record-keeping.
  • Manage staff rotas, attendance, and workforce planning.
  • Build positive relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and purchasing requirements.
  • Oversee the planning and delivery of high-quality educational and developmental activities.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation.
  • Address parent enquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally.
  • Lead safeguarding practices and act as the designated safeguarding lead where required.
  • Prepare for inspections and ensure the setting meets quality standards.
  • Promote inclusion, equality, and diversity throughout the service.
  • Support marketing and occupancy initiatives to maintain enrolment levels.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's Services.
  • At least 3 years management experience.
  • Experience of safeguarding children and promoting child welfare.
  • Applicant must have a driving licence.
  • Experience leading and developing staff teams.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and inspection requirements.
  • Strong understanding of child development and early years practice.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisational, administrative, and budgeting abilities.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and ensure regulatory compliance.
