Job description

The role involves a variety of administrative tasks to support the smooth operation of the practice. These tasks include handling patient records, scheduling appointments, managing correspondence, and ensuring the practice runs efficiently. The role is crucial for maintaining patient care and ensuring that all administrative processes are completed accurately and on time.

Responsibilities

  • Offer general assistance to the practice team and providing a positive and friendly service to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
  • Facilitate effective communication between patients, members the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures.
  • Call handling - processing large volumes of calls efficiently.
  • Processing data via multiple software packages.
  • Committed to providing excellent patient service.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • 12 months' experience in an administrative role.
  • Competent computer skills.
  • Organisational skills.
  • Great telephone skills.
  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade C or above) or equivalent.

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience of primary care software such as EMIS or Vision.
