Job description

The College is seeking applications for a Fixed-Term (1 year) Technical Consultant - Industry 4.0 Technologies to be based in our Springtown Campus. The post holder will be responsible for developing relationships with businesses in the area of Industry 4.0 Technologies including (Robotics, Automation, Embedded Systems, Digital Transformation, Smart Manufacturing, IoT and mobile network technologies e.g. 5G, 4G. LTE etc). They will help businesses by specifying their requirements, new product development and consulting and sharing their knowledge by upskilling. Working with academic staff and College partners, they will be actively involved in the design, development and delivery of specific interventions within their areas of specialism to meet the outlined requirements. They will also be responsible for income generation and ensuring that the College meets targets within budget and on time.

Responsibilities

  • To assess, through engagement with employers and other research, up-skilling support including specialist training requirements of industry within the area of specialism;
  • To encourage business innovation, entrepreneurial activity and improvement for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the area of specialism and related industries;
  • To develop, plan, and deliver employer engagement and support activities including up-skilling and specialist support to industry to ensure effective delivery to meet client needs.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Have at least a Level 6 qualification in the area of Automation, Robotics, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering or Electronic Engineering.
  • At least one years employment experience working in the area of Smart Manufacturing, Automation, Robotics, Mechatronics, Embedded Systems, IoT or 5G Technologies.
  • Have a current driving licence and access to a car (Applicants with a disability who have been prevented from obtaining a driving licence due to their disability (as defined by the DDA 1995) are eligible to apply).
