Civils Estimator
Job description
Our client, Moores Concrete in Broughshane, is currently recruiting for a Civils Estimator to join their Estimating Team. The purpose of this role is to work within the Civils Team on a day-to-day basis to maximise sales opportunities and convert these into orders, striving to achieve the Company's monthly KPIs. As a Civils Estimator, you will support the Lead Estimator and be responsible for preparing construction cost estimates. You will also be involved in the planning, development, negotiation and award of projects. This position will suit an experienced individual with a background in the civils sector, proven estimating experience, and the motivation to contribute to the Company's success in this key commercial role.
Responsibilities
- Work within the Estimating Team to price and secure projects within the Civil Engineering market.
- Provide regular updates regarding current projects, order statuses, completed tenders and stock requirements.
- Complete tender documentation and submit tenders within required timescales.
- Ensure customer enquiries, Bills of Quantities and tenders are priced accurately from drawings and bar schedules.
- Negotiate and communicate professionally with clients and contractors to maintain and develop commercial relationships.
- Organise and attend client meetings.
- Interpret project information and provide solutions that benefit both the customer and the business.
- Liaise with relevant departments to ensure orders are processed successfully within customer requirements, budget and programme.
- Assist in resolving technical queries where required.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as agreed with the line manager.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Civil/Structural Engineering or Construction-related degree, or equivalent experience.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including negotiation and influencing skills.
- Ability to interpret drawings and engineering information.
- Proven experience in estimating and providing excellent customer service.
- Effective project management skills with the ability to exceed customer expectations.
- Evidence of achieving or exceeding business objectives.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
- Strong programme management experience, managing customer projects from tender stage through to delivery.
- Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office packages.
- Flexibility to respond to business needs, including representing the company at trade shows and client visits when required.
