Learning Support Worker
Job description
To enable young people with learning disabilities & autism on Liberty Consortium HUB Transition programmes to participate fully in training & activities. Supporting young people to achieve aims and reach their potential and supporting facilitators.
Responsibilities
- Be aware of each student’s Group and Individual Training Plan.
- Support learners to access and engage in sessions in line with their support plan.
- Work one-to-one and in groups with allocated students.
- Assist facilitators to deliver, monitor and review support provision.
- Contribute to student progress review forms.
- Support qualifications, paperwork and record keeping.
- Help maintain discipline and manage challenging behaviour appropriately.
- Liaise with parents and outside providers when required.
- Ensure premises are kept clean, tidy and safe.
- Attend and contribute to review meetings and team meetings.
- Follow all Health and Safety policies.
- Adhere to safeguarding, confidentiality and Codes of Practice.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the post.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- GCSE Health & Social Care Qualification or equivalent and minimum 1 year paid experience supporting needs of young people with disabilities.
- Or:
- Educated to GCSE (or equivalent and a minimum 2 years paid experience supporting needs of young people with disabilities.
Desirable Skills
- Excellent communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of the needs of young people/adults with disabilities.
- Good literacy skills.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of IT.
Further Information
You will be entitled to 28 days (5.6 weeks) paid holiday in that year (inclusive of statutory days) and pro rata for duration and hours of contract. The organisation closes down for holiday at certain times/on certain days during the year and you are required to take your holidays in line with the Project timetable.
