Trainee AGA Engineer
Job description
Ian Dunlop AGA Services is seeking a reliable, hands on Trainee Service Engineer to learn a specialized mechanical trade, servicing , repairing and installing luxury AGA cookers and domestic heating systems across NI and parts of the Republic of Ireland. Working alongside an experienced engineer , you will develop technical expertise across oil, gas and electrical systems, requiring excellent manual coordination, physical fitness and strong problem solving logic. You will operate directly inside residential properties , delivering elite, polite and clean and tidy customer service. Applicants must be dependable , punctual and hold a full UK driving licence. This role offers full specialist vocational training, company van and a transparent career progression toward becoming a fully trained AGA cooker engineer with excellent long term earnings.
Responsibilities
- Learning to service, repair, fault- find and install luxury oil, gas and electric AGA cookers.
- Providing polite, friendly, and professional service inside domestic dwellings, ensuring work areas are left clean and tidy.
- Safely handling heavy cast iron components, maintaining a company van and tracking stock / job sheets.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Confident using hand tools, power tools and basic mechanical workshop equipment.
- Handling small mechanical parts and working precisely with your hands.
- Capable of safe heavy lifting, bending and kneeling to assemble heavy cast iron appliances and service cookers.
- Clear and professional verbal communication when speaking with customers face to face.
- Punctual with ability to stick to early morning schedules and regional travel timelines.
- Must hold a full UK driving licence and meet company commercial vehicle insurance criteria.
Desirable Skills
- Prior exposure to plumbing fittings, basic automotive mechanics, electrical wiring or construction.
- Background working in domestic services, retail, hospitality or any customer - facing environment.
- A natural knack for problem solving, trace - routing or finding faults in mechanical machinery.
- Ability to use smartphone or tablet to fill out digital job logs and navigate maps.
