Senior Sous Chef


Job description

As a Senior Sous Chef at Pier 36 you will be assist the head chef in leading our kitchen team.

Responsibilities

  • Directs food preparation and works opposite and along with head chef.
  • Helps in the design of seasonal changes in food menu.
  • Produces high quality plates, including both design and taste.
  • Assists with menu planning, inventory, and management of supplies.
  • Responsible for kitchen and staff.
  • Ensures that food is top quality and that kitchen is in good condition.
  • Keeps stations clean and complies with food safety standards.
  • Offers suggestions and creative ideas that can improve the kitchen’s performance.
  • Prepares food to a high standard.
  • Schedules staff shifts.
  • Trains new employees.
  • Orders food supplies in line with company procedure.
  • Monitors and maintains kitchen equipment.
  • Solves problems that arise and seizes control of issues in the kitchen.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role, including in a similar sized menu essential.
  • Highly skilled in all areas of food preparation and execution in a busy kitchen.
  • High level of communication in English to employees with a variety of first languages.
  • Proven record of positive staff management.
  • Experience in stock management.

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience in a role of similar business size desirable but not essential
