Job description
We are seeking a Health and Safety Advisor to support our operations across Northern Ireland. Based out of our head office in Derry, this role will provide health and safety support across a range of projects, working closely with project teams, site management, subcontractors and senior operational stakeholders. This is a visible, site-facing role suited to someone who is comfortable engaging with teams on live construction projects. You will carry out inspections, support safe systems of work, review documentation, advise on risk, investigate incidents and help ensure that health and safety standards are consistently applied across our project portfolio. The role will suit someone with experience in construction, M&E, building services, infrastructure or similar project environments who is confident working with site teams and influencing safe behaviours in a practical, constructive way.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and develop strategies for prevention.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees to promote awareness and adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, and training activities.
- Collaborate with management and employees to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and changes in safety regulations.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards.
- Experience conducting root cause analysis to identify underlying causes of accidents or incidents.
- Proficient in first aid techniques and emergency response procedures.
- Excellent report writing skills to document safety incidents, inspections, and training activities.
- Strong communication skills to effectively train employees on safety protocols and procedures.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to identify potential hazards and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Construction Background/experience needed for this role.
