Job description

The Playgroup Leader will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the playgroup to provide for the needs of the whole child in a safe and stimulating environment. This will involve planning, preparing and delivering play-based activities appropriate for children aged 3-4 years.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the overall safety and wellbeing of children. Oversee the completion of risk assessments throughout the setting both indoors and outdoors. Develop and maintain all policies and procedures.
• Provide safe, stimulation group play to meet the social, linguistic, creative, physical, imaginative, emotional needs of each child. Establish productive working relationships with children, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
• Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all children within the Preschool. Provide and maintain equality of opportunity for all children and their families. Organise and manage appropriate learning environment and resources.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• A qualification at Level 5 Diploma in Child Care; or a relevant occupational qualification in early years’ education, social work, nursing, teaching or health visiting.
• A minimum of two years paid experience working with children.

Further Information

Work Time: Monday to Friday: 8:30am-12:30pm plus 2 hours per week additional administration (times to be agreed with management committee) total 22 hours. Employment will commence on 1st September 2026.
