Job description
The Principal Practitioner is expected to attain better outcomes for children and their families across the Family and Childcare spectrum. To this end, he/she will engage in direct work with children and families, commensurate with the complexity of the cases. He/she will provide an expert practice perspective to assist other practitioners and managerial staff in the discharge of the Trust’s statutory duties in respect of children in need and Looked After Children and in particular with cases in the Court arena. He/she will play a key role in the profiling and development of social work practice throughout the Trust and contribute generally to the Trust’s governance framework and other measures designed to secure the delivery of quality social work services to children and families. Responsibilities
- Engage in direct practice with children and families including, where appropriate, co-working with other practitioner staff.
- Provide expert opinion to the courts.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Five years post qualifying experience in social work practice including carrying out the mentoring role with staff.
- Five years post qualifying experience in social work practice with families and children.
