Specialist Rotational Occupational Therapist
Job description
To work within the Occupational Therapy Unscheduled Care Service rotational program. These posts will initially cover Medicine and Surgery within the Belfast City Hospital, the Care of the Elderly Service currently sited on the Royal Victoria Hospital, Diabetic Foot patients on the Royal Victoria Hospital and Respiratory on the Mater Infirmorum Hospital. These posts are the initial posts of a new specialist rotational program which will be expanded within Acute and Unscheduled Care. To work across a variety of service areas /ward settings as operational required and service needs demand, providing focused Occupational Therapy assessments so as to facilitate timely discharges from acute hospital care. Responsibilities
- To carry own clinical workload and be responsible for organising this workload in line with the agreed priorities, policies and procedures of the trust, so that an effective and efficient Occupational Therapy Service is delivered to all patients.
- To carry out appropriate assessments, plan and deliver client-centred interventions, focusing on agreed goals and evaluate and adapt these as necessary.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- No less than 2 years post graduate experience within a variety of clinical areas, at least 6 months of which should include experience working in an acute hospital.
- Diploma of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists or Degree in Occupational Therapy from a college recognised by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT).
Desirable Skills
- Have experience in the supervision/ mentoring of staff/ students Accreditation as Practice Educator.
- Foundation wheelchair training.
