Job description

The Head of Adult Safeguarding will be responsible to the Assistant Director for Adult Safeguarding. He / she will be a source of expert advice across the Trust on matters pertaining to Adult Safegarding and Adult Protection. He / she will be responsible for ensuring that there is a whole system approach to adult safeguarding / protection for all adults at risk of harm and in need of protection across the Northern Health and Social Care Trust, working collaboratively with internal and external partners. This will include the development of a range of high quality, safe and effective Adult Protection Procedures and developing the adult safeguarding staff resource. He / She will work with the Assistant Director for Adult Safeguarding, the Mental Capacity Act and Professional Social Work Lead, in the strategic planning of these services within the NHSCT ensuring effective Trust wide multi-disciplinary / agency working and the most effective use of resources. Responsibilities

• He / she will provide strategic leadership and management of the Adult Protection Team and will be charged with ensuring that the best possible outcomes are achieved for service users at risk of harm and in need of protection.
• Embed co-production, participation and involvement of service users and their carers into the Adult Safeguarding process

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• A professional Social Work qualification recognised by the NISCC
• Current registration with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council on Part 1 of the register or willing to register on Part 1 of the NISCC register
