Assistant Cook
Job description
The Assistant Cook will assist the Catering Manager with running the day-to-day catering operations and services in the Hostel. They will be responsible for monitoring the quality of the food and services. The primary purpose of the job is to achieve good quality service within a budget and maintain high standards of hygiene and resident satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- To carry out the preparation, cooking, transportation, serving and presentation of all types of meals and food, as required
- To promote and ensure a high standard of hygiene in the kitchen, stores, dining room and with regard to equipment
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- A catering qualification
- A minimum 1 years’ practical experience in food preparation and cooking
- An understanding of hygiene and health and safety considerations within a catering environment
- GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
Desirable Skills
- Food hygiene certificate
