Medical Receptionist/Administrator


Job description

We are recruiting for a Medical Receptionist. Responsible for reception and administration within the Medical Practice.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting patients in person and on telephone.
  • Making and cancelling appointments.
  • Update patients computer records as directed.
  • Liaising with various agencies where required to provide repeat prescriptions when authorised.
  • Coordinate patient appointments, hospital letters etc with staff members to ensure procedures are effective.
  • Ordering ambulances and booking interpreting services and secondary care appointments as directed by the GP.
  • Process incoming & outgoing mail.
  • Other administrative & customer care duties as directed by the surgery management.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • 4 GCSEs grade A-C including Maths & English or equivalent or NVQ Level 2 Customer Care or equivalent or 1 year's recent relevant experience.
  • Ability to work alone and in a team.
  • Proven verbal and written skills.
  • Computer literacy skills .

Desirable Skills

  • Working within a GP surgery advantageous however full training will be given.
  • Experience in a customer care role.

Further Information

Work Time: 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday between surgery opening times 8.30am - 6pm. On-site parking. Temporary with the view to becoming permanent
