Job description

The purpose of the Recovery Service is to enable people to regain the skills and confidence required to perform daily activities that may have been lost as a result of illness or injury. The post holder will work as an integral member of the Recovery Service, supporting occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech and language therapy in the delivery of rehabilitation and reablement. Under the direction of the relevant professional, the post holder will be required to deliver a range of therapy programmes, treatment, care and support for service users in a variety of settings, including community beds and service users’ homes. The post holder will be required to communicate effectively with service users, carers, occupational therapy and multidisciplinary colleagues, statutory and voluntary agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist service users to undertake a range of therapy programmes as outlined by the relevant professional in the rehabilitation/reablement plan.
  • To work independently or alongside another member of the team to enable service users to appropriately undertake their rehabilitation/reablement tasks.
  • Interact and communicate effectively with service users who may have complex needs, a number of co-morbidities, changes in cognition and differing levels of independence.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • One year’s experience working directly with older or physically disabled people in a caring capacity or in rehabilitation. Plus 4 GCSEs Grade A-C to include English and Mathematics or equivalent.
  • Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport.
