Care Assistant


Job description

You will help residents with day-to-day care, personal care, meals, mobility, companionship and activities, while working as part of a supportive care team. Full training, paid induction and support with NISCC registration will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with personal care, including washing, dressing, and toileting.
  • Support residents with mobility, transfers, and safe use of equipment.
  • Provide assistance during mealtimes, including feeding where necessary.
  • Monitor and record residents’ wellbeing, reporting changes promptly.
  • Promote residents' independence, dignity, and choice in daily activities.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.
  • Engage residents in social and therapeutic activities.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Ability to work shifts, including weekends and evenings.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience in a care or support role.
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Health & Social Care.
  • Training in moving and handling.
  • First aid or CPR training.
  • Experience documenting care notes.
  • Confidence using basic digital care systems.
