Job description
If you want to learn life-long skills that will equip you for jobs in Trade and Export, the Trade and Export Academy is for you. This academy is a great way to get industry-recognised training before entering the workplace or changing career. The Trade and Export Academy is an intensive eight-week training course providing practical knowledge and real-world experience required to work in the sector. Those who successfully finish Assured Skills Academies are guaranteed a job interview with participating companies. Offers of employment will be at the discretion of the companies following the interview.
Responsibilities
- Assured Skills Academies offer short pre-employment training courses, designed in partnership with industry to give you the skills needed to compete for new employment opportunities in a range of exciting sectors.
- Candidates selected to join the academy will receive practical skills, training and industry recognised qualifications in areas such as: business, strategy and leadership, digital trade systems and customs procedures and documentation.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Be at least 18 years old at 1 September 2026.
- Have a right to work and to undertake Assured Skills Training in the UK at the point of application and not be disqualified from doing either by reason of their immigration status.
- Have a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English and Maths.
- Be a team player with a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Have strong attention to detail.
- Have good written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable Skills
- Have a level 3 qualification
Further Information
Applicants should note that the job roles available are not eligible for skilled worker sponsorship. Base salaries are in the range of £30,000 - £32,000. Those taking part will get a weekly training allowance of £185 for the duration of the academy, as well as help with travelling and childcare costs where people qualify. South Eastern Regional College (SERC) will invite eligible applicants to an information session and interview the week commencing Monday 17 August. Training will take place from Tuesday 1 September to Friday 23 October 2026 at SERC’s Bangor campus and will be classroom based from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm every weekday. Successful applicants must be available for the whole training period. Applications are welcome from everyone who meets the essential criteria and are particularly welcome from people returning to work after caring for their children or other family members.
