Job description

Early Years, the organisation for young children wish to recruit an Early Years Assistant to work Rainbow SureStart, Belleek. To ensure children attending the SureStart programmes have the best start in life by providing a safe, welcoming, high quality, inclusive early education environment, working to improve the ability to learn, improve health and social development of children, ante-natal to four years of age. The salary for this post is £25,877.80 to £26,681.73 per annum, pro rata based on 20 hours per week. Please see employer website for full job details & person specification.

Responsibilities

  • To work within the team to provide high-quality programmes for young children and actively encourage the participation of the parents.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of the Development programme for 2/3 year olds.
  • To work along with the team to ensure there is a caring and welcoming environment for the children and their families.
  • With guidance from the Line Manager to regularly engage with families on an individual and group basis as appropriate to ensure children’s learning outcomes are discussed and agreed with parents and carers.
  • Working with the team to ensure that the programmes are appropriately planned before commencement and organised at the end. That those good standards of health and hygiene are followed, and that equipment and the environment are regularly risk ass
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Early Years and Sure Start Safeguarding Policies and Procedures, ensuring all practice aligns with current guidance.
  • To represent Early Years and SureStart as agreed with the Line Manager.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • NVQ Level II in Early Years Care and Education or equivalent.
  • One years’ experience working with young children in a paid, voluntary or training/placement capacity.
  • A full current driving licence enabling the holder to drive in NI and have the use of a vehicle for official purposes or have access to a form of transport that will enable the candidate to meet the requirements of the post in full.

Desirable Skills

  • NVQ III in Early Years Care and Education or equivalent.
