Job description
The post holder will support the Head of Finance Services in ensuring the efficient day to day running of the finance function through accurate accounting records, operational controls and financial reporting. This role is critical to ensuring that finance systems and processes operate effectively, support business objectives, and meet all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day financial operations including sales and purchase ledgers and bank reconciliations, ensuring accuracy of coding, recording and ensuring prompt payments and receipts.
- Ensure that all project claims are completed accurately on a timely basis and to support any external verification of the same.
- To assist in the preparation of year end statutory accounts and to provide support during the year-end financial audit.
- Identify and suggest improvements to finance systems, tools and processes to drive efficiency and accuracy
- Ensure the purchase order system complies with the Early Years authorisation process.
- Support the Head of Finance Services and the Director of Finance with the preparation of management information to support operational decisions.

Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Member of one of the following professional bodies: Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Chartered Accountants Ireland, The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy
- A minimum of 3 year’s practical experience of operating an accounting package to final Trial Balance and management accounts stage
- Experience of payroll processing or management
- A high level of knowledge and experience in the use of Microsoft Office
- Ability to work flexibly, conscientiously and use own initiative to meet deadlines
- Excellent organisational and communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse financial information effectively
- A full current driving licence and access to a car, or alternative travelling proposals in respect of applicants with a disability who cannot hold a licence
Desirable Skills
- Experience of working in the not-for-profit sector and project funding
- Experience of working with Sage 200 Accounts
