Job description
To lead and develop the Speech and Language Therapy Service for children & young people, including neonates and infants, with complex health needs, dysphagia and complex speech, language and communication disorders associated with a variety of underlying developmental and acquired learning disabilities, within both the acute hospital and community setting, in conjunction with the Assistant Manager. To provide an advanced/expert level of clinical expertise, underpinned by evidence based practice/national guidelines, in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge of neonates, infants, children & young people with complex speech, language and communication difficulties and/or eating drinking and swallowing (EDS) difficulties associated with a variety of underlying developmental, acquired and learning disabilities.
Responsibilities
- To be responsible for the specialist holistic assessment, diagnosis and treatment of neonates, infants, children and young people within the service, providing an advanced level of expertise. This will involve planning, implementing and evaluating.
- To develop and implement the highest quality innovative clinical practice.
- Work autonomously using advanced levels of history taking, assessment skills and management plans within multidisciplinary team guidelines and protocols.
- To be responsible for providing advice, second opinions and clinical decisions regarding complex clinical management issues relating to the client groups as required across CYPSLT services.
- To have a lead role in the strategic planning, development and evaluation of Speech and Language Therapy within the CYPSLT service.

Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Applicants must have a minimum of two years at Band 7 level and relevant recent clinical experience working with CYP with Complex EDS / Complex Speech, Language and communication difficulties
- Advanced training and experience working with children and young people with dysphagia.
- Show evidence of advanced training and experience of communication and associated disorders within the client groups at postgraduate level e.g. MSC or equivalent.

Further Information
Salary: £55,690 - £62,682 per annum pro rata.
