Job description

The post holder will be responsible for the provision of a quality, specialized service to deliver First Contact Physiotherapy Musculoskeletal (MSK) Services providing a high standard of specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal patients in primary care General Practice (GP) surgeries. The post will involve seeing patients without prior contact with their GP and will be a source of expertise providing advice on the specialist service locally and regionally as required. Responsibilities

• To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your professional practice including the management of patients in your care.
• To work within Health Board and Primary Care clinical protocols, procedures and guidelines and Professional Standards set by the HCPC and CSP / other professional bodies.
• To triage and carry out expert assessment of MSK referrals in Primary Care, as the first point of contact for the patient.
• Establish diagnosis, provide advice, instigate treatment or make onward referrals in conjunction with Trust physiotherapy services to secondary care, Orthopaedic assessment/Orthopaedic ICATS services, rheumatology and pain clinics in secondary care.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Degree or Diploma in physiotherapy (or equivalent) and currently registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• 5 years’ post graduate experience to include minimum of 3 years’ experience at specialist grade or above in MSK field.
• Evidence of successful completion of a minimum of 1 MSc. Level accredited post-graduate module specific to the field of MSK patient care or equivalent and extensive CPD relevant to management of patients with musculoskeletal disorders.

Location: Causeway Hospital site, main building. Salary: £55,690 - £62,682 per annum pro rata.
