Job description

As Cook, you will be responsible for the planning, preparation and cooking of meals and the supervision of the kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Plan all menus, taking into account residents’ specific dietary requirements and their individual requests and to liaise with the Home Manager to agree menus.
• Maintain sufficient stock and operate within the budget, ensuring minimum waste and efficient use of stock.
• Make your voice heard and contribute to staff meetings, putting forward suggestions and ideas for improvement.
• Take on additional specific areas of work as required by the Executive Director of Housing, the Supported Living Manager, the Home Manager or any other senior manager as requested.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Able to verbally communicate in the English Language with the client group.

Desirable Skills

• NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds in Catering & Hospitality, or an equivalent catering/kitchen related qualification.
• Be able to show some knowledge of the diets of older people / menu planning.
