Job description

In order to meet the overall mission of the Trust the post holder will: Be involved in the work of the various sections providing the pharmaceutical service under the direction, control and supervision of pharmacists. The post holder will rotate through the sections as required to meet service needs.

Responsibilities

• Label and dispense prescriptions, requisitions and other orders in pharmacy and at ward level including CD’s
• Label and dispense compliance aids, TPN and clinical trial medicines.
• Prepare, label and dispense extemporaneous products.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• If qualified after June 2009: BTEC and NVQ3 in Pharmacy Services / BTEC L3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians or equivalent (see below) in pharmacy plus 18 months experience working as a student pharmacy technician
• If qualified before June 2009: BTEC level 3 Nat Cert in Pharmacy Services or equivalent (see below) plus a minimum of 18 months experience working as a student pharmacy technician for a minimum of 14 hours per week
