Job description

The post holder will be responsible for the provision of Senior dental nurse cover on a supervisory and practical basis. The duties attached to the post include the supervision and rotation of qualified dental nurse staff, working closely with the GDP representative attached to the clinic. The post holder will support the clinical specialty to ensure the provision of a high standard of patient care and that all trust policies and procedures are adhered to. This will include chair side support.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high standards of patient care are maintained at all times in the clinical area under the control of the senior dental nurse.
• Attend to patients’ needs in an emergency situation and ensure that dental nurse staff are aware of emergency procedures.
• Supervise the general organisation of the clinic to promote efficient use of staff, instrumentation and materials.
• Promote good working relations in the dental team.
• Ensuring that supplies and equipment are available to meet the needs of the clinic, including ordering and monitoring stock.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• National Certificate for Dental Nurses or Recognised Dental Hospital Certificate in Dental Nursing or NVQ Level 3 in Oral Health Care.
• Dental Nursing Post Qualification such as Oral Health, Radiography, Sedation, Paediatrics, Special care.
• GDC Registered Dental Nurse.

Desirable Skills

• Evidence of ongoing CPD requirements as laid down by GDC.

Further Information

£31,049 - £37,796 per annum pro rata.
