Job description
To ensure children attending the SureStart programmes have the best start in life by providing a safe, welcoming, high quality, inclusive early education environment, working to improve the ability to learn, improve health and social development of children, ante-natal to four years of age. To work in partnership with families to promote and facilitate positive parenting and the enhancement of the role of parents as ‘First Educators’. Responsibilities
- Assist in the continuous improvement, development and provision of high-quality innovative programmes for young children and actively encourage participation of the parents.
- To work with children and families based on a Key Worker system that meets the needs of the children.
- To work along with the SureStart Team including the Developmental Programme for 2-3 year old Team to ensure there is a caring and welcoming environment for the children and their families.
- With guidance from Early Years Leader to regularly engage with families on an individual and group basis as appropriate to ensure children’s learning outcomes are shared and agreed with parents and carers.
- Working with the team to ensure that the programmes are appropriately planned before commencement and organised at the end and that good standards of health and hygiene are followed and that equipment and the environment is risk assessed and checked.
- To adhere to regional and local Safeguarding Child Protection Policy and Procedures
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- NVQ Level II in Early Years Care and Education or equivalent.
- One years’ experience working with young children in a paid, voluntary or training/placement capacity.
Desirable Skills
- NVQ III in Early Years Care and Education or equivalent.
- A full current driving licence enabling the holder to drive in NI and have the use of a vehicle for official purposes or have access to a form of transport that will enable the candidate to meet the requirements of the post in full.
Further Information
Location: Splash SureStart, Legahory Centre. Salary: Point 4-6, (£25,877.80 - £26, 681.73) per annum, pro rata.
