Job description

Work under the guidance and direction of the Senior Support Worker/Team Leader and in accordance with the statutory and regulatory requirements and the organisation’s Policies and Procedures. Responsibilities

  • Ensure a high-quality service that reflects and works within the Community’s ethos and values. Assist with specialist care provision such as catheter care, speech therapy, diabetes management, communication and mobility needs.
  • Empower individuals to make decisions based upon informed choice, and recognise and respect the right to exercise choice in the delivery of their care and support. Support and assist individuals to attend to their personal care needs.
  • Recognise, respond and report safeguarding issues in compliance with the organisation’s Safeguarding Policies and Procedures. Adhere to positive behaviour support strategies in accordance with management plans.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times and uphold the General Data Protection Regulations. Support individuals to enable them to live in houses which are safe, clean, aesthetically pleasing and well maintained, by giving the necessary support.
  • Work with individuals to engage in everyday household chores such as cooking and meal preparation, laundry, cleaning, etc. and to ensure all household tasks are carried out to a high standard.
  • Contribute to assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of Person-centred Support and Care Plans in order to address identified needs.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Good literacy, numeracy and computer skills. Calm, level-headed, patient, tolerant, approachable, understanding, respectful, flexible.
  • Two years' experience in care/support role. Two years' experience in care/support role.

Desirable Skills

  • NVQ/QCF Level II Health and Social Care or allied professional qualification. Full clean driver's licence.
