Support Worker
Job description
Inspire is seeking dedicated and compassionate Support Workers to join our Day Care Services team. You will play a vital role in supporting adults with intellectual disabilities and autism to live fulfilling lives, achieve their goals, and actively participate in their communities.
Responsibilities
- Using a relationship-based approach, deliver care and support to individuals through the principles of person-centred support and the promotion of human rights, social justice and equality.
- Develop and maintain a trusting and professional relationship with the people who use our services and act in a supportive and empathetic manner towards them.
- Devise and deliver care and support plans within the context of social inclusion, which is designed to work with people to build a meaningful life and promote independence and choice.
- Contribute towards a harmonious and therapeutic environment.
- Working to the HIQA National Standards for Residential Services for Adults with Disabilities, support the people who use our services to manage their physical health, mental health and wellbeing through the development.
- Implementation and monitoring of individual care and support plans.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Willingness to work a range of shifts as required, including evenings, weekends, waking nights and sleepovers.
- To possess a full current driving licence that allows you to drive in ROI. Consideration will be given to alternative travelling proposals in respect of applicants with a disability who cannot hold a driver’s licence.
- QQI/FETAC Level 5 Major Award (or equivalent) in Health or Social Care OR Currently working towards a QQI/FETAC Level 5 Major Award. OR;
- Hold a QQI/FETAC Level 5 Minor Award Willingness to commence and successfully complete a QQI/FETAC Level 5 Major Award within an agreed timeframe following appointment.
- Where a candidate does not hold a full Level 5 Major Award at the point of appointment, appointment will be conditional on engagement with and completion of the qualification, which Inspire will support and fund in line with the Staff Policy.
- A minimum of 12 months experience of supporting people in a caring field as a paid employee, volunteer or carer.
- Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of people with Autism and/or intellectual disability.
Further Information
Salary will be paid in Euros - 17.47 - 23.22 per hour.
