Job description

Learning to build, repair, and restore furniture covers and padding using both traditional and modern techniques. Key duties include stripping old upholstery, cutting fabrics, operating power tools (like staple guns and saws), and attaching foam. Ideal candidates have strong manual dexterity and a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities

• Stripping existing upholstery, inspecting and repairing wooden frames, and fixing webbing or springs
• Learning to measure, cut, and pattern fabrics, leather, and foam
• Operating industrial sewing machines and applying padding using tacks, glue, or pneumatic staple guns
• Adding trimmings, buttons, fringing, and piping to exact specifications
• Maintaining tools, performing equipment maintenance, and keeping the work area safe and clean

• The ability to lift furniture and perform physically demanding, hands-on tasks
