Job description
To manage the administrative function of the Section and to maintain an effective administrative support to the Line Manager. To act as a liaison point in dealings with other departments within the Council and with the public. Responsibilities
- To ensure on a day-to-day basis that all administrative and clerical duties in the Section are efficiently and effectively carried out including the allocation of work to the administrative and clerical employees (as appropriate).
- To undertake specific administrative and project related duties for the Line Manager and/or the Section/Department.
- To supervise and motivate employees and to comply with and promote equality, health and safety and employee development in compliance with Council human resources policies and legal requirements.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- 2 ‘A’ levels or equivalent qualification.
- Supervising Staff.
- 3 years’ relevant administrative experience to include: Organising and prioritising a demanding workload.
- 3 years’ relevant administrative experience to include dealing with the public (in person or by phone).
- 3 years’ relevant administrative experience to include taking minutes at formal meetings.
- 3 years’ relevant administrative experience to include use of mail merge and databases.
- 3 years’ relevant administrative experience to include experience in the maintenance of spreadsheets and databases.
- 3 years’ relevant administrative experience to include experience using a Web Based Software System.
- Access to the internet to enable agile working, if required.
Desirable Skills
- Level 4 qualification in a business related subject.
- The ability to carry out their own research.
- Setting up and delivering training with operational staff.
- Experience of coordinating systems for management including budgetary control relating to procurement, funding initiatives, completion of returns and financial processing.
