Pre Press Operative
Job description
Our client, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of printed folded cartons and aluminium foil containers, is currently seeking a full-time Pre-Press Operative to join their team based in Newtownabbey.
Responsibilities
- Create innovative packaging and carton designs that meet customer and company requirements.
- Produce CAD drawings, layouts and samples for customer approval.
- Prepare technical drawings and multi-up layouts for tooling and production purposes.
- Prepare and produce varnish blankets in line with production specifications.
- Work closely with customers, sales teams and production to deliver projects efficiently;
- Ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and suitable for production.
- Carry out associated administration and maintain accurate documentation.
- Able to take artwork from pre-flight to plates.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Experience using CAD software such as ArtiosCAD.
- Experience using sample cutting tables such as Zünd/Kongsberg.
- Previous experience within the packaging, print, or folding carton industry preferred.
- Understanding of packaging construction and design principles.
- Ability to work from a customer brief and deliver creative packaging structural design solutions within deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high frequency, creative environment.
- Experience of dealing with both sales teams and customers.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, ArtPro/ArtPro.
- Experience of pre-press, artwork and reprographics processes.
- Understanding of outputting and checking plates from a CTP for production.
