Job description

Successful applicants to the Academy will undertake an eight-week training course for work in the electrical switchgear sector. Participants will be paid £185 per week during the training period and will also receive travel expenses and help with childcare costs if eligible. Training will include five weeks intensive training at North West Regional College (NWRC) and three weeks on-site training at VERTIV in Derry/Londonderry. Training starts on Monday 5 October and finishes on Friday 27 November 2026 - Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm at NWRC. Monday to Thursday 8.00 am to 5.00 pm and Fridays 8.00 am to 2.30 pm at VERTIV. Applicants must be available for the entire duration of the training period. Successful participants work towards a Level 2 entry level qualification in Electrical Installation (EAL) and are guaranteed a job interview for a permanent operative role with VERTIV. Offers of employment will be solely at the discretion of the company following the interview and any further employment checks the company may make.

Essential Skills

• You must be at least 18 years old on Monday 5 October 2026 and have a right to work and to undertake Assured Skills Training in the UK at the point of application and not be disqualified from doing either by reason of their immigration status.
