Job description

The Sales Assistant will work across the garden centre, providing assistance and support to both customers and colleagues, ensuring great service is delivered and the centre high standards area maintained.

Responsibilities

• Providing customer service to customers in the centre such as assisting them to their cars with heavy/ large items such as compost, pots etc.
• Replenish stock as directed by line manager e.g. compost, pots, plants, birdcare, garden care.
• Replenish customer trolleys & baskets from the car park & sales areas.
• Assist with the housekeeping of sales areas, yard & stores to ensure they are kept clean, tidy, organised and safe at all times, in line with company standards.
• Operate our EPOS till system & process customer transactions when required.
• Offloading weekly deliveries manually and usually forklift when required.
• Van driving, delivering customers items purchased in store and online.
• Completion of daily checklist.
• Perform any other duties as & when required by line manager.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Previous experience of working within a similar retail environment.
• General interest in gardening, plants and outdoors.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and undertake the required work which includes bending, stooping, lifting and carrying heavy objects.
• Willing to undertake manual handling training.
• Must possess initiative to work on your own.
• Can demonstrate great communication skills.
• Must be available to work av. 32.5 hrs each week including a Sunday.
• Full, valid UK driver’s Licence.

Desirable Skills

• Previous experience using an EPOS till system.
• Previous experience van driving.
• Experience driving a forklift.
