Bar Supervisor


Job description

As a Bar Supervisor, you will lead by example in a fast-paced hospitality setting, ensuring exceptional customer service, maintaining high operational standards, and supporting your team to create a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff and visitors. The successful candidate will have previous supervisory experience in a hospitality or bar environment, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering outstanding service. You will also be responsible for cash handling, stock control, food safety, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support the day-to-day operation of the bar and service areas.
  • Prepare, serve and present food and beverages
  • Maximise sales opportunities through excellent product knowledge and upselling.
  • Operate the till accurately, process payments and balance cash records.
  • Assist with stock ordering, deliveries, stock rotation and inventory control.
  • Ensure all food safety, hygiene and Health & Safety procedures are followed.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Previous supervisory experience within a bar, hospitality or catering environment.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Experience handling cash and maintaining accurate records.
  • Flexible approach with the ability to work evenings, weekends and busy event periods.

Desirable Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working as a bartender or bar supervisor.
  • Experience in stocktaking and inventory management.
  • Food Safety/HACCP qualification.
  • NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Hospitality, Food Service or a related discipline.
