Job description

Our client is seeking an Assembly Operative/Fabricator to join their team based in Portadown.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and understand work instructions including work packages and technical drawings
• As part of a team or individually, assemble windows, unitised and stick curtain walling, roof-lights and doors to the required specifications as per system supplier’s requirements and good working practices
• Operate workshop machinery, including overhead cranes saws, grinders, crimpers, drills and saws, tools and measuring equipment
• Fabricate/bond panels & flashings and factory glazing of doors and windows
• Check and inspect work, and complete quality documentation
• Prepare all completed materials for dispatch to customer in line with standard operating procedures which are project specific
• Keep areas clean, check equipment and encourage others to do the same
• Operate as part of the pre-production facility team if and when required, completing duties to include taping, kitting and issuing accessories and metal, checking materials in and out and quality checking
• Other duties as may be reasonably required commensurate with the jobholder’s level in the company

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Previous experience as an aluminium fabricator/assembler with factory based work experience including fabrication of aluminium windows/curtain walling/shop fronts
• Understanding of H&S requirements within a work shop environment
• Experience of operating work shop machinery
• Experience of quality systems and processes
• Good verbal communication skills
• Ability to work on own initiative while contributing effectively to a team environment
• Ability to read, understand and follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
• Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines with a minimum of supervision
