Job description
You will be working on Housing Rights’ busy helpline providing specialist, comprehensive, holistic advice and information on the core areas of homelessness, housing debt and housing issues to members of the public and relevant agencies. You will give advice by phone, email, web chat and face-to-face. Our housing helpline and web chat are open Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 4:30pm.
Responsibilities
- The provision of specialist, comprehensive, holistic advice and support on the core areas of homelessness, housing debt and housing issues to members of the public and relevant agencies.
- The provision of an effective support role to housing advice teams.
- Identifying and making timely, appropriate internal and external referrals.
- Furthering the mission and aims of Housing Rights.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- At least six months’ full time (or equivalent part time) experience in a customer contact centre, or providing advice to the public, or dealing with complex enquiries
- Proficient using Microsoft Office with good typing skills
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills
- Strong people skills
- Able to work as part of a busy team
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- 5 GCSEs or equivalent
Desirable Skills
- Qualification in law, housing, debt or social security benefits
- At least one year full time (or equivalent part time) experience in a customer contact centre, or providing advice to the public, or dealing with complex enquiries
- Experience using case management systems, such as Advice Pro
- Experience using telephone systems in a customer-focused environment
