Manufacturing Design Engineer


Job description

The Role Working closely with engineering and manufacturing teams, you will be involved in product design, prototyping, technical documentation, process development and continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will also support the implementation and optimisation of advanced manufacturing technologies within a modern production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create and develop CAD/CAM files for new and existing products.
  • Develop and test products for performance, safety and manufacturability.
  • Produce technical drawings for suppliers, customers and production teams.
  • Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and project documentation.
  • Update and manage parametric product designs.
  • Source components and materials.
  • Develop SOPs and manufacturing best practices.
  • Support continuous improvement and LEAN initiatives.
  • Collaborate with production teams on product and process updates.
  • Assist with commissioning and optimisation of manufacturing equipment.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience within a Design Engineering role.
  • Experience using CAD/CAM software such as Solid Edge, Lantek or similar.
  • Familiarity with Python within a CAD/CAM environment.
  • Strong technical problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Details: £Negotiable salary. Ballymena. Permanent. 4-Day Week. Monday-Thursday, 6.00am-4.30pm.
