Job description

The purpose of the post is to ensure that OHS is responsive to the existing and emerging healthcare needs of the NICS and client bodies. This will include professional advice on a wide range of workplace health related issues, health promotion, health protection programmes and input to policy and procedure development. The post holder, who will report to the head of Occupational Health Nursing, will play a vital role in the health and wellbeing of many employees using their specialist clinical skills and expert knowledge. Responsibilities

• Screen pre-employment health related information, and carry out assessments, including baseline health surveillance assessments for recruits where required.
• Screen and carry out health surveillance assessments of individuals to satisfy statutory obligations and departmental policy; to include but not limited to audiometry, hand arm vibration and confined space assessments.
• Screen, assess and report on the fitness of employees, including those on sickness absence, and to advise regarding adjustments.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Applicants must, by the closing date for applications Either: 1. Be registered as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse, on Part 1 (Adult) and Part 3 (Occupational Health) of the live NMC Register (UK).
• OR 2. (a) Be registered Nurse on Part 1 (Adult) of the live NMC Register (UK) and have a diploma in Occupational Health.
• AND (b) 2 years’ practical occupational health experience.
• OR 3. (a) Be registered Nurse on Part 1 (Adult) of the live NMC Register (UK) and have an occupational health qualification.
• AND (b) 2 years’ practical occupational health experience.
• AND (c) Be prepared to undertake and complete the specialist post graduate Diploma/ BSc. (please see Condition of Employment section).
