Job description

Lilac Cancer Support is a local charity providing practical, emotional and wellbeing support to people affected by cancer in Mid Ulster. We are looking for a Cancer Survivor Coordinator to lead and develop high-quality support services for cancer survivors and their families. The post holder will coordinate personalised support, facilitate wellbeing programmes, strengthen partnerships with health services, and help survivors rebuild their lives with confidence after treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out needs assessments and coordinate individualised support packages for cancer survivors and their families (including complementary therapies, counselling, financial support, and practical help).
  • Design, facilitate and deliver survivorship programmes, support groups, workshops and wellbeing activities focused on recovery, healthy lifestyle and long-term health.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with local hospitals, GPs, oncology services and other relevant organisations.
  • Recruit, support and manage volunteers involved in survivor support activities.
  • Deliver outreach sessions and events across Mid Ulster.
  • Maintain accurate client records, monitor outcomes and contribute to monitoring, evaluation and funding reports.
  • Support the charity’s wider activities including fundraising events and awareness campaigns.
  • Undertake travel across Mid Ulster to meet clients, deliver services and attend meetings as required.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Significant personal or professional experience of cancer (as a survivor, patient, carer, or through substantial involvement in cancer support).
  • Clear understanding of the challenges and support needs of cancer survivors and their families.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and provide support.
  • Experience of coordinating support services, casework or community programmes.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
  • Full current driving licence.
  • Commitment to person-centred support and the values of Lilac Cancer Support.
  • Willingness to undergo an Enhanced Access NI check

Desirable Skills

  • Relevant qualification in health & social care, counselling, social work, community development or a related discipline.
  • Access to a car for business use (with appropriate insurance).
  • Experience working in the voluntary/charity sector for 2 years minimum.
  • Knowledge of cancer pathways and health services in Northern Ireland.
  • Experience of facilitating support groups or wellbeing workshops.
  • Knowledge of GDPR, safeguarding and data protection.
  • Research and consultation experience.
