Job description

MACS Youth Floating Support Service supports young people aged 16-25 in the community who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or need help maintaining their tenancy. Youth Floating Support Workers support on average 15 young people who receive individualised support based on support planning ongoing assessment/review and keeping safe were appropriate.

Responsibilities

Ensure all young people receive appropriate care and support from staff who can meet their individual needs.
Provide holistic support on both a one to one and group basis to all young people promoting personal development and independence.
Work in partnership with young people, professionals, and other services to develop individual support plans, create safety plans, and carry out regular reviews.
Maintain and review accurate and up to date records of support provided to young people.

To provide practical 'hands on' support to assist young people with all areas of managing their tenancy including life skills and emphasising the importance of being a good neighbour.
Liaise and advocate with housing providers, including the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, housing associations, and private landlords, to ensure appropriate accommodation and tenancy support.
Plan and participate in move-on processes, working collaboratively with young people and partner agencies to support positive transitions from MACS.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

1 years’ experience of working with young people in supported housing or community-based support or similar environment.
OR Degree in Social Work, Youth and Community Work or similar AND 6 months experience of working with young people in supported housing or community-based support.
Experience of assessing risk and safety planning in order to keep young people safe.
Experience of assessing need and support planning for young people.
Can develop own approach to practice based on reflection and feedback.
To be resilient and compassionate in a challenging environment.
A full, current driving license with access to a car, insured for business use is required to meet the requirements of the post in full.
