Logistics Support Technician

Riada Resourcing is recruiting on behalf of Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service for a Logistics Support Technician based in Bangor. This is an excellent opportunity to help support service delivery of Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue (NIFRS) Fleet Engineering & Supplies and Operational Area Command tasks.

Responsibilities

  • To support service delivery by assisting Fleet Engineering & Supplies (SSC) and Area command managers in tasks including driving specialist vehicles, testing, calibration and maintenance and certification of operational equipment etc.
  • To participate in the regional duty standby Rota to facilitate effective logistical support network to ensure operational resilience is maintained out of hours to support service delivery activities throughout the region and cross border in support.
  • To be responsible for the vehicle inventory within the Supplies & Logistics and Area commands fleet of vans, ensuring it is maintained and accounted for including all tools, Trauma kits, Breathing apparatus and medical oxygen.
  • Responsible for deploying and crewing the welfare Module in Support of Operational incidents across the region on a 24/7 basis including while on the Operational standby Rota ensuring the resupply of first stage feeding at the incidents.
  • Store all SSC and Area command equipment (Including Vehicles and Plant) and consumables appropriately and complete audits of equipment and inventories as required.
  • To assist the Supplies team in the annual and Bi-annual stocktaking within the Supplies & Logistics Department.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • A minimum of three years’ experience working in a service delivery environment which included driving Large Goods Vehicles (LGV).
  • Possess a full, current HGV/LGV category C, UK driving licence which enables them to fulfil the full requirements of the role.
  • Possess a full, current B plus E UK driving licence which enables them to fulfil the full requirements of the role.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Management Information Systems.
  • Ability to work individually or as a team member.
  • Effective communication skills (both oral and written) and the ability to provide timely and accurate information.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Effective planning, organisation, prioritising skills and attention to detail.
  • Possess a Counter Balance and Reach & Tier forklift truck licence. (Or be willing to complete training).
