Job description

The post holder will be required to deliver paediatric care within acute paediatric inpatient, neonatal intensive care and outpatient settings. This post will complement the existing resident tier rota and provide continuity and support clinical workload changes resulting from the developments within the service.

Responsibilities

• General care of the children in Ward 6, Paediatric Assessment unit, Neonatal Intensive Care, Postnatal Ward, Labour Ward and Day Care Unit.
• Attendance at Out-Patient clinics.
• Should take part in the General and departmental Postgraduate teaching. May be required to assist in the teaching of nurses.
• Opportunities for Clinical Research.
• Discharge Letters.
• So far as is consistent with the proper discharge of the above duties the postholder must undertake to deputise from time to time for absent colleagues.
• The postholder must undertake, exceptionally to perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
• The postholder must undertake, exceptionally to be available for such irregular commitments outside normally rostered duties as are essential for continuity of patient care

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Must have Full Registration and License to Practice with the GMC
• Must have completed Foundation Training or equivalent

Desirable Skills

• Additional experience in Paediatrics
• Courses completed e.g. APLS etc.
