Engineering Design Technician
Job description
The postholder will play a key role in supporting the delivery of Strand 2 activities within the PEACEPLUS NWCAM2 programme. The successful candidate will assist SMEs in adopting innovative technologies, sustainable practices, and advanced manufacturing techniques, with a particular emphasis on low-carbon approaches and the application of research-led solutions. Working closely with industry partners, academic institutions, and other stakeholders, the postholder will help drive improvements in business performance, environmental sustainability, and organisational competitiveness, supporting the achievement of programme objectives and measurable outcomes. North West Centre for Advanced Manufacturing 2 (NWCAM2) is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).
Responsibilities
- Reporting directly to the NWCAM2 Engineering Research and Innovation Manager, the NWCAM2 Design Technician will contribute to the development and implementation of engineering solutions for SMEs operating in the Health and Life Sciences sector.
- The position will involve supporting product development prototyping activities and engineering design within technical innovation projects, helping to convert new ideas into practical, high-quality outputs that are delivered within agreed timescales
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Have at least a Level 5 qualification in the area of Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- Demonstrate on the application form, by providing personal and specific examples, 1 years industrial in an Engineering Design or Manufacturing related role.
- Demonstrate on the application form, by providing personal and specific examples, experience of using an industry standard 3D CAD package in an industrial role
- Have current driving licence and access to a car. Applicants with a disability who have been prevented from obtaining a driving licence due to their disability (as defined by the DDA 1995) are eligible to apply
Desirable Skills
- Experience of using additive and/or subtractive prototyping technologies such as 3D Printers and/or CNC Milling Machines.
Further Information
Band 5 - £32,597 to £36,363 per annum. Location: Greystone Campus. Fixed-term until September 2029. 24 days annual leave per annum. NILGOSC Pension Scheme. NWCAM2
