Skilled Machine Operator


Job description

Mackle Petfoods is seeking a Skilled Machine Operator to join our team in Moygashel. Working on a fast-paced production and packaging line, you will play an important role in ensuring our products are manufactured and packaged to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. This role reports to the Shift Manager/ Production Supervisor. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working as part of a team in a dynamic production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Effective operation of equipment to support the delivery of the highest quality of products.
  • Support fault finding on machines to identify and fix the root cause, escalating for support when required.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly cared for by the completion of effective cleaning and basic maintenance tasks.
  • Meeting or exceeding production targets.
  • Monitor equipment output and report any issues to supervisor / line manager.
  • Ability to carry out safety checks in line with health and safety requirements.
  • Checking and controlling the machinery ensuring consistent quality.
  • Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the work area.
  • Report any non-conformances identified immediately to management.
  • Train new machine operators to the company standard and maintain their skills training regularly.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Health & Safety by working in a safe manner, role modelling our safety behaviours, challenging unsafe practices, rectifying unsafe conditions and escalating to other team members when support is needed.
  • Understand and adhere to good manufacturing practices and company standards of hygiene and PPE.
  • Work well as part of a team, playing an active part in team and business successes. Engage with the daily challenges and opportunities and work effectively with others to overcome any issues.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely recording of downtime and raw material usage in an area.
  • Able to complete physically demanding duties; occasionally lift heavy loads in excess of 25kg.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and reducing inefficiencies.
  • Comply with all company rules, policies and procedures.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Fluent in English (both reading and writing) for Health & Safety purposes.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Have previous experience operating Machinery and running a Production line.
