Job description

Kitchen Assistants required for St Joseph's Nursing and Dementia Home, Warrenpoint. Dedicated and professional kitchen staff required to assist the Cook in daily food preparation for residents of St Joseph's Nursing Home. The kitchen assistant is responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in the preparation of food, storage of cooked and uncooked food and all areas associated. Cleaning of equipment and dining room at the direction of the Cook. The kitchen assistant will change water jugs for residents and help in occasional events within the nursing home e.g. birthday parties, celebrations etc.

Responsibilities

• Food preparation
• Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen
• Assisting the Cook on duty as required

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Able to work as part of a team
• Good communication skills
• Awareness of kitchen hygiene practice

Desirable Skills

• Previous care home experience preferred. Full training provided.
