MOAT is offering a structured 12-month paid placement for an ambitious student or recent graduate (has left education in the last 12 months and is seeking employment) interested in supply chain, business development and digital transformation. The successful candidate will work as part of MOAT’s delivery team, supporting practical activities that help SMEs strengthen their supply chain capabilities, explore cross-border opportunities and adopt more sustainable and digitally enabled ways of working. The role will also involve researching and identifying suitable SMEs, contacting business owners by telephone and email, and securing meetings for MOAT’s directors and business development team.

Responsibilities

  • Research SMEs, supply chain challenges, potential business opportunities. Identify and engage businesses that could benefit from supply chain support. Contact prospective SMEs by telephone, email and LinkedIn. Secure qualified meetings for Directors.
  • Support SME supply chain assessments, workshops, research and follow-up activities.
  • Help SMEs explore cross-border, sustainability and digital transformation opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of contacts, activities and outcomes.
  • Draft LinkedIn posts, marketing cards, emails and other promotional content.
  • Contribute creative ideas to improve SME engagement and programme delivery.
  • Work towards agreed research, outreach and meeting-generation KPIs.
  • Contributing to data collection, reporting and programme monitoring activities.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Studying towards, or recently graduated from, a relevant degree such as supply chain management, business, marketing, engineering, sustainability or digital transformation.
  • Strong research, written communication and organisational skills.
  • Confident speaking with business owners and decision-makers by telephone.
  • Comfortable using email and LinkedIn for professional outreach.
  • A proactive self-starter who enjoys taking ownership and delivering results.
  • Motivated by clear targets and KPIs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and willing to learn CRM, AI and digital tools.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in business development, customer service, marketing or lead generation.
  • An interest in supply chains, SMEs and cross-border business.
  • Experience creating LinkedIn content or marketing cards using Canva or similar tools.

Further Information

Temporary, 12 months. There will be some flexibility in working hours.
