Parent Support Worker


Job description

To provide a holistic supportive service to young parents who have previously been in the care of the SEHSCT. To work directly with care experienced parents and families providing practical and emotional support to promote the best outcomes for themselves and their children. To assess the individual needs of these families and formulate a plan of support, working towards shared goals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1-1 support for care experienced parents and their family.
  • Ensure the safeguarding of the children and advising parents of ways to do the same.
  • Support parents to instil structured activity, positive parenting and boundaries for children in the home setting and out in public.
  • Support parents to establish routines at key times such as meal-time and bed-time.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • GCSE English grade C or above or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience of working with young people aged 16-25 and/or children.
  • A full driving licence and access to a car with Business insurance.
  • Knowledge of child development.

Desirable Skills

  • Work flexibly to suit the needs of our Service Users, which can include evenings and weekends.

Further Information

Work Time: Two days a week required, must include Thursdays (to be confirmed)
