Job description

To assist the Playgroup Leader in providing safe, high quality education and care for children aged between 3 years and 4 years olds. Term Time (Starting Septemeber 2026-June 2027 with possibility of extension to following year).

Responsibilities

• Help ensure that the playroom is appropriately laid out before the session commences and is tidied up after the session ends.
• Carry out regular observations and records as a key worker.
• Assist in the planning and preparation of activities offered throughout the session.
• Listen to, encourage, enable, stimulate and ensure the safe keeping of the children.
• Support the leader in ensuring that there is a safe, caring and welcoming environment for children and their families.
• Keep strictly confidential any personal information regarding the children, their families or other staff which is learnt as part of the job.
• Ensure good standards of hygiene are followed and that equipment is safe and regularly checked as recommended in DHSSPS guidance.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Level 3 qualification in CCLD or equivalent.
• Knowledge of the Pre-School Curriculum.
• Good Communication Skills.

Desirable Skills

• Previous experience in an Early Years setting.
• Up to date Paediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene and safeguarding training.

Further Information

Wednesday (8.30-3.30), Friday (8.30-2.00), Term Time. (12 and a half hours).
