Job description

We are looking for a Shop Manager to lead our Enniskillen shop. This exciting opportunity combines retail leadership with a meaningful purpose, raising vital funds that support specialist palliative care for people and families across Northern Ireland. As Shop Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the shop, maximising sales, managing staff and volunteers, and creating a welcoming space for customers and supporters. You will play a key role in engaging the local community, encouraging donations, and ensuring the shop delivers an excellent customer experience. This is a practical, hands-on role involving the regular handling, sorting and preparation of donated goods, including frequent lifting, and carrying and steaming of clothing as part of day-to-day shop operations. If you enjoy leading teams, developing people, and creating vibrant retail spaces, this could be the perfect opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Provide courteous and respectful service in line with Hospice values.
  • Demonstrate commitment through regular attendance and task completion.
  • Familiarise with and comply with Hospice policies and procedures.
  • Uphold Hospice values and code of conduct in all interactions.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • 2 plus years’ retail experience in a supervisory/management capacity within the clothing or houseware market.
  • Experience of sales floor merchandising and stock display.
  • Experience in the training and development of others.
  • 4 GCSEs, including English Language and Maths at Grades A-C (or equivalent qualifications) and basic IT skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of working in and a good operational understanding of the culture within the charity shops sector including an awareness of Gift Aid.
  • Knowledge of the laws relating to charitable trading.
  • Experience in dealing with environmental health and trading standards officers.
