Childcare Assistants will work as part of the Giggle n Grow team to provide a safe, caring, and stimulating environment for children. This includes assisting in the planning, organisation, delivery, and evaluation of play-based and educational activities in line with The Minimum Standards for Childminding and Day Care (July 2012, amended October 2018) and Giggle n Grow policies.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning, organisation, and delivery of the daily play curriculum and activities.
- Support with the observation, assessment, and evaluation of children’s learning and development.
- Carry out daily observations and update the child management system as required.
- Ensure children are cared for in a happy, safe, and supportive environment, and are handed over safely to parents/carers.
- Work as part of a team to maintain high standards of care and communication.
- Maintain daily room records as directed by the Room Leader or management. Keep accurate information on parents and children in line with data protection requirements.
- Ensure all toys, resources, and equipment are stored correctly and that damaged or unsafe items are reported immediately in line with daily risk assessment procedures. Assist with daily cleaning and sterilisation tasks to maintain hygiene standards
- Communicate effectively and professionally with children, parents, colleagues, and management.
- Follow all Giggle n Grow policies and procedures, especially those relating to safeguarding, behaviour management, and health and safety.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Educated to, or willing to work towards, QCF Level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development (or equivalent).
- Experience working with children in a play or early years setting.
Desirable Skills
- A full, clean driving licence. Paediatric First Aid qualification. Child Protection / Safeguarding training certificate.
Further Information
This position is subject to AccessNI and Social Services vetting requirements. Work Time: Hours will be scheduled between 7.30am and 6:00pm Monday to Friday.
