Constituency & Publicity Support Officer will work with the MLA and her team to Develop MLA and manage MLA presence on social media and digital media platforms and assist the Constituency Manager with constituency duties.
Responsibilities
- Develop MLA and manage MLA presence on social media and digital media platforms.
- Create an engaging social media content for local constituents and ensure MLA work is communicated.
- Monitor and control MLA’s social media.
- Work with wider Press team, if and when necessary.
- Respond to comments, compile content, and drive social media campaigns.
- Produce video content.
- Analyse social media reaction and produce detail reports to MLA.
- Use social media as a tool to draw MLA attention to certain issues.
- To produce individual communications plans for MLAs that include their spokesperson role, committee work, party work and local issues, and to oversee implementation.
- To liaise on with media and respond to media inquiries.
- To help organise media briefings and press statements.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Assist Constituency Manager with constituency duties.
- Dealing with standard queries from members of the public.
- Draft responses to constituents.
- Gathering relevant information to assist with resolving cases.
- Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken.
- Research local, regional or national issues to support the Member's work.
- Assist with management and progress portfolio of casework appropriately.
- Analyse, evaluate and interpret data to ensure the MLA is accurately informed on key issues.
- Retain records and information confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act.

Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Degree (or equivalent qualification) and 6 months experience or at least one years’ relevant experience in social media, PR, Journalism.
- Excellent knowledge of the political landscape.
- Local area knowledge.
- Understanding of social media for professional use.
Desirable Skills
- A working knowledge of Gaeilge.
Further Information
Location: South Down Constituency Office , Stormont and occasional travel to outside engagements as required.
